After last week's shootout victory, the Dodos were riding high looking to string together back-to-back wins. The Stars had other plans.
From the drop of the puck, the Stars established control of the skate early with two first period goals. The Dodos found themselves in an uphill battle, a battle that Chuck Flinn and Caleb McEvers were willing to fight. Flinn connected twice with McEvers in the second period to even all scores at 2-2. The Stars would respond with and immediate attack, regaining the lead 3-2 by the end of the second period.
The third period would start the same as the first, with the Stars scoring and extending the lead to 4-2. With time winding down, tempers would flare. A pile up around the Stars goalie would result in downed Jeff Hewitt taking a punch to the face, only to retaliate with counter blows of his own. Dodos flocked to the scene with Flinn applying repeated jabs while others wrapped up on Star players.
Once the penalties were issued, the Dodos quickly responded with a power play goal. Blake Barroso connected with Hewitt on a cross pass that would find the top-shelf and cut the lead to 4-3.
The Stars would eventually hold on to the victory, handing the Dodos their sixth loss of the season.
Next week the Dodos (2-6-2) will look to bounce back as they take on Last Call. Game time is 8:30 on the NHL Rink.
